Holidaze...


Knew the holidays with family would be a challenge - sweets and homemade cookies offered under your nose daily, big servings of mash potatoes, pie, and other craving-inducing foods. I started off well, really - drinking milkshakes every day, and turning down sweets and cookies, but I also wanted to be in the spirit of the season, so I tasted a cookie here and there. And then the snows came, and we couldn't go anywhere, so I had to eat what was in the house. My mom's blender made a terrible noise, and so she took it back to costco - I tried to make a shake with a mixer, but all I made was a mess - milkshake-banana goo all over the kitchen, the floor, my pants, my shirt, everywhere - what a pain :) Speaking of pain, I haven't worked out in a week either, I miss exercise (did I really just write that?!).
The way I see it, I am setting myself up for my New Year's resolution. I am having a party for 30+ people, and I know I will be drinking, so that will add to my demise. I am up to 199 pounds, so I'll have another 10+ pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight. A good, easily reachable (I hope) goal.

Champ

Pitted against various health care workers and their fancy, expensive diets, did I really think I had a chance? Me? The ancient one, trying to lose weight by chugging milkshakes and chowing down on pizza?! Well victory is all mine. 32 pounds lost, the pizza and milkshake diet has carried me to victory - woohoo!

195 pounds! Woohoo!

Well this has been quite the up and down week, with Thanksgiving and all (although I would have fared better through that holiday if I wouldn't have skipped a couple of days of milkshakes and salads). But I got back on track... milkshakes, pizza and a couple of good work outs and the weight came right off. I weighed in on Tuesday morning because over two months ago I started a weight loss challenge with a group of people that work at a local hospital, and this was my final weigh in... how did I do? You'll have to wait until the next post for the details, but I am a happy, and slightly richer, boy.

204 pounds?!

I went in to work out on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and stepped on the scale and was met with three very shocking numbers: 204, six pounds more than my last weigh-in! I was wearing a big hoodie, but not six pounds big. Too much drink lately, and too much pie and ice cream on Turkey Day. So I have been pretty good the last couple of days, we'll see how it goes. Every weigh-in up to this point has registered some pretty significant gains (losses?) so this was really quite a shock.

29 pounds!

I weighed in at 198 today, 29 pounds below where I started seven weeks ago. Yes! And it's the morning-after-a-turkey-filled-rule-breaking-pie-eating-four-beer-drinking-Thanksgiving! To my credit I did work out before the feast and we did swim a bit in our hosts pool.
